Imager's Challenge was commissioned as the second book in L.E. Modesitt Jr.'s Imager Portfolio series. This series holds a special interest for me because the main character begins his journey as a portrait painter, and of course we all like to think of ourselves as heroes!

My interest in using realistic objects as abstract elements in space brings focus on the graphic silhouettes of the figures and creates movement while simultaneously framing the main figure. The balance between the looseness of the cloaks coupled with the intricacy of elements like threadwork and tattoos builds another level of complexity in this piece.
