Last year I was approached by Arnie Fenner to create a portrait of his wife and co-creator of the prestigious annual Spectrum. Cathy and Arnie, apart from doing so much to support the genre of fantastic art, are wonderful people. I leapt at the opportunity to pay homage to Cathy in a painting. It'd been a while since I'd tackled a white painting and the platinum color of Cathy's hair pointed me towards the challenge. I worked with Arnie to create a composition that would encompass who Cathy is while remaining a distinctive work of art. I think the result is as unique and complex a painting as Cathy is a person.
